Join State Bat Biologist, Jennifer Kindel, to learn more about the state of South Carolina’s 15 species of bats and what the SCDNR bat program has accomplished thus far. Then we’ll ask for your help and ideas, and provide some of our own, to better educate South Carolinians on the importance of these fascinating and beneficial creatures in decline.

Originally from Lexington SC, I earned a B.S. from Clemson University (2004) and an M.S. from Arkansas State University studying bat winter roosting ecology. I served over five years as SC State Park biologist before joining SC DNR in 2025 as their new bat biologist.
